Job Description: Logging Operation Supervisor


Job Summary:

The Logging Operation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily logging operations, ensuring the efficient and safe harvesting of timber. This role involves managing a team of logging workers, coordinating equipment and logistics, and adhering to environmental and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of logging techniques, and a commitment to sustainable forestry practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Management:

    • Plan and supervise daily logging activities to meet production targets.

    • Coordinate with the team to develop logging schedules and plans.

    • Ensure the proper maintenance and operation of logging equipment.

    • Monitor logging operations to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

  • Team Leadership:

    • Supervise, train, and evaluate logging crew members.

    • Foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork.

    • Address and resolve any personnel issues or conflicts.

    • Conduct regular safety meetings and ensure adherence to safety protocols.

  • Logistics and Coordination:


    • Manage inventory of logging supplies and equipment.

    • Communicate with team.

  • Compliance and Reporting:

    • Ensure all logging activities comply with regulations.

    • Prepare and maintain accurate records of logging activities and production.

    • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor environmental impact and operational efficiency.

  • Continuous Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.

    • Stay updated with industry trends, techniques, and technologies.

    • Participate in professional development and training programs.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in forestry, natural resources, mechanic, operating or a related field preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in logging operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

  • Skills:

    • Strong leadership and management abilities.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Proficiency in operating logging equipment and machinery.

    • Knowledge of forestry and environmental regulations.

    • Ability to work in physically demanding and outdoor environments.


Working Conditions:

  • Outdoor work in various weather conditions.

  • Physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, and operating heavy equipment.

  • Travel to different logging sites as required.

Work Schedule and Perks

We offer various work schedules to meet your lifestyle. The typical schedule we offer is 7 days on and 7 days off. However, we are flexible in the length of the schedule. We have offered 14, 21 days on, and 7, 14, 21 days off. There are also opportunities for part time positions on an as needed basis.
